oh hai!
We have a brand new 47×57″ fluorescent UV tube vacuum exposing unit with floor stand sitting at our factory in a crate. the customer had a fire and can’t take it.
this is located in Mexico and ready to go, wired for 110v
Regular $3125, offered for $2500 plus shipping.
See it here: http://www.tmiscreenprinting.com/products/eagle-fluorescent/
andy AT timiscreenprinting.com
ALSO: I have 4 – 48×48 OD heavyduty aluminum stretch and glue frames – they won’t fit my new exposure unit or press. Some are ripped, some have half decent 225-250 mesh. $70 ea.FOB my studio, does not include freight or packaging for shipping.
ALSO: large newman roller frames (maybe 48×48″ or so) Some friends of mine in Langley BC (outside of Vancouver) ended up with quite a few – they have other sizes of regular frames too, they will sell them cheap. contact http://www.monsterpress.ca ask for Marty tell them andymac sent you!

All the above have sold. We took in trade an older 3×4 one arm clamshell vacuum table, probably a cinicinatti, looks to be in decent shape,
a rotating Polycop vacuum exposing frame about 39″x 50″,
a smaller 50 leaf drying rack maybe 32×48.
All this is located in Victoria, make me an offer.
andy AT tmiscreenprinting.com i can send some pictures.

Hello,
I’m not sure if this is appropriate for this website, but here goes. My father, the artist David Larson, died 2007. I am liquidating art materials for my mom and among the items is a Martech Etching Press. This is a manual press that he dabbled with but did not use much. On the side is a plaque that reads, “This press was made for Alan Cutcliffe”. The company is out of business and this is one of only websites I’ve found that deal with such things. We are curious as to the value of this press and would appreciate any suggestions on finding a new owner.
Thank you. Anders Larson

Greg,
The press is in South Penobscot, Maine. I will be there in a few weeks and can get the measurements. If there is any measurement besides the bed size that you want, let me know and I’ll get it. If there are any other dimensions or information that you’d like, please ask. This is definately not my area of expertise.

Martech Etching Press update:
Sorry for the delay, but here are some numbers.
Large laminating plate is 17″ by 32″ by 3/4″
The top roller is 16″ by 5 1/2″ diameter
Bottom roller is approx 4″ diameter
The crank arm for the gearbox is 7″
I also have three 17″ by 32″ felts, 2 large tubs, 4 containers of etching ink, and a collection of etching tools. I have several photos and will send them to you upon request. My email is alarson@sanford.org. I am still trying to find a fair value for the press, and I welcome suggestions.

Ettan MS-3 etching press, 1 owner, private studio, 24 by 48 inch bed, in good, clean condition. This manual press includes a captain’s wheel instead of a handle or starwheel, so is much easier on the wrists and back. Fairly lightweight at about 280 pounds makes this press transportable. $2800> Buyer assumes all shipping & crating costs

I have a large floor model Ettan Etching Press in great condition. Its bed is 36″ x 72″. It has 2 good blankets, a plexiglass bed cover.
It is simply too large for my studio. It cost 8000$ new, and I am asking 4500$ plus all shipping and crating costs.
If interested leave a reply. This is a great deal for anyone with a large studio, or who runs classes. It is a primo press. Also, it requires double door to move it into a room.

Hi, I just popped a posting regarding a Glen Alps printing press that my mother-in-law, a retired artist, wants to sell. I’m not sure if that is what your looking for, but these are rare presses and it is an etching press. The measurements are as follows: the metal bed is 30 by 66 and the wheel’s diameter is 18in. It is heavy and orange and metal. I think it would be typified as medium, but I’m not an artist, so apologies for any errors. She is asking $5,000 or best offer. Thanks, Elizabeth

are you still in asheville? did you find a press? i have a charles brand 16 x 30 and one interested artist — i am trying to find a fair price for this press which i wish i could keep, but i am older now and do not want to leave my daughter with this heavy equipment — i got it in the 70’s and used it for monoprints and a few editions — with my age and the fact that someone tossed out all my expensive inks, and that my stamina is not too great any more i would like to sell my much loved press — it has precision gauges, steel bed and rollers and has been up until i stored it at my house, well maintained by a serious artist (porge buck) who proofed a set of plates for me on it — write if still in asheville and still looking and i will give you my phone # — jean wall penland

If you haven’t sold your Ettan Press, I’d like to know if you might sell it if I arranged shipping… I have started into searching freight rates for 170 lbs. Can you estimate the weight of the other items you’re including?

Hi Tom — Check ebay, there is a great seeming med/small press currently at auction. It is located in Florida. Good luck.

Thanks, But not what I am looking for. I am looking for a standard etching press, 2 rollers, prefer at least 4″ top roller. Size over 12″. Table Top would be fine. Not to exceed $3,000 price dependent on manufacture, size, condition. etc. This will be our first, want to buy one that we will be happy with for a long long time. Best Tom

Hi Tom, I still have my press, a Dickerson- will handle etchings, mono prints and lithographs. It has a 27×46″ bed and it is motorized with very few hours on it. It also comes with blankets, new rainbow rollers and the table it sits on. I am just outside New York City. I was asking $2,700. My number is 914 316-6156. I can send you some photo’s.

Jann,
I have no idea how much the steel stand weighs.
GUESSING maybe 65 lbs. It is 29″W, 26 1/2″ D, 32″ H.
I have assorted brayers and blankets, again I have no idea how much they weigh, guessing again at 20lbs.
Hope this helps you. Stacey

Thanks for this information, Stacey. I would need to have a shipping service crate and ship — so, can the legs be removed from the stand to make the shipping easier? Also, do you have a date in mind for selling — I guess I mean, is it available now?
Thanks again, Jann

Thanks Stacey, that’s helpful information. Let me come at this another way: can the press and bed be removed from the table? In an ideal world, I would like to have the table… but shipping it doesn’t make sense given that I can mount the press on a table here. The stated weight of the press at Ettan site is 280 lbs. Your estimate for the press is 170 lbs. Was that a guess, or the press minus the table weight? I just need to give the shippers a weight to get a cost for shipping. Many thanks for your help with this.

My neighbor has a Martech etching press, similar or identical to the one described on this board about a year ago:
Martech Etching Press update:
Sorry for the delay, but here are some numbers.
Large laminating plate is 17″ by 32″ by 3/4″
The top roller is 16″ by 5 1/2″ diameter
Bottom roller is approx 4″ diameter
The crank arm for the gearbox is 7″ ”
I have inspected the press, which belonged to her late mother who was an excellent printmaker, and it appears to be in good condition. As a printmaker, I offered to help my neighbor find a new home for the press. I have yet to figure out a reasonable price for it. Any suggestions on a price would be most welcome.
The press is in central NH. Please get in touch with me if you would like more details

Hi Peggy,
I am looking for a press, and am in Maine. I have seen used presses of this size online, asking somewhere around the $1800- $2400 range — depending on condition, with the understanding that buyer is responsible to pick up. Takach sells used presses sometimes — so might be a price guide there. New press prices generally set the market, but then are generally shipped to the buyer. Hope this is helpful. Jann

Seeking a high-quality floor etching/intaglio press (Conrad, American French, Elephant, etc.) in good condition, preferably within driving distance of Boston or Lenox. Bed width 12-30″. Prefer motorized, but crank or wheel considered.
This will be a production machine; repeatable alignment is critical. Will pay fair market price depending on make, model and condition.

Looking for used litho press and larger stone (minimum 20 x 26 in). Also, I have a leather roller that has reversed leather and had been shellaced before I stripped it. Does anybody know of someone who could re-cover the roller or turn the leather right side out?

Hi Maureen,
I don’t know the answer to your question but I do have a 14″ leather roller for sale. It is older and was reconditioned by Graphic Chemical years ago. It has been coated and in storage since. I also have a KU roller for sale. (See my other post). It might be easier and cheaper for you… I’m looking to move these last few things. The last item I have is a phenolic linen tympan 24 X 36.

My name is Yoshi Segoshi. I an a Tamarind trained printer and the founder of a workshop called “Edition Works” in Tokyo. Now I live in MA since 1995. I have a Takach made motorized litho press model 2648 with vari-speed and 25.5″ x 48″ backing plate.
http://www.takachpress.com/lithmotor/index.htm
I purchased it in 2001 and used it for about 2 years. It is in a perfect working condition with very minor cosmetic flows (minor ink stains and paint chips). I’ll send the photo of the press if you are interested.
I quit printmaking recently and moving on to painting. I’d like to sell this press for $5000 + shipping. The new one is priced as $18,170. The shipping cost should be less than $1000 within continental US.

Hi Sarah,
As a fellow Lithographer, welcome. Have you thought of contacting Takach here in Albuquerque, NM to see if they are shipping anywhere over in your neck of the woods. Sometimes they have been known to piggyback shipments so it is more affordable. It is probably the most amazing press you will want to use. Good Luck.

I have two beautiful stones I purchased new, a new unused 14″ leather roller still in the original box, a new 81/2″ x 24″ aluminum core medium durometer ink roller still in the original shipping crate and a 2″x10″ levigator I would like to sell. The litho stones have been used only a few times and are a light yellow color. One stone is 22″x28″x3 3/4″ thick. The other stone is 16″x20″x 3 3/8″ thick.
I am an art professor at a University in Michigan and I simply need to clear some space in my studio. I would crate and organize shipping but shipping costs would need to be covered by the buyer.
Asking price.
1) 22″x28″ litho stone. Retail price: $1431 plus shipping…My price: $900 plus shipping.
2) 16″x20″ litho stone: Retail price: $795 plus shipping…My price,,$450 plus shipping
3) 14″ leather roller. Retail price: $380 plus shipping. My price: $180 plus shipping
4) 24″ rubber ink roller. Ratail price: $856 plus shipping. My price: $425 plus shipping
5) 10″ levigator. Retail price: $274 plus shipping. My price $160 plus shipping.
I also have a beautiful old book press in excellent condition I would like to sell for $200. The leather roller will need to be conditioned before using.

I purchased the roller from Rembrandt Graphic about ten years ago. I never used the roller and it has been safely stored in the original wood shipping crate. Very nice roller. I had a smaller version I used often.
The aluminum core and handles are nicely engineered.
I can send photos via email if you would forward an email address.
Thanks,

I would like to purchase a litho shop to set up in Iowa City. I would like to have a press that will print a full sheet of paper 30″X44″. I would also like to pick up a few stones and comp rollers. I am willing to drive to pick them up if the price is reasonable. I am currently in Albuquerque, NM and will be moving to Iowa in July. July or August would be the best time for me to pick things up.

Deb Napple
June 25, 2012 at 1:22 pm
Deb, the roller is a 81/2″ x 24″ medium durometer roller with an aluminum core.It is a beautiful roller. If I remember correctly the roller is a around a 35 durometer. I had purchased the roller new from REMBRANDT some years back and had never used it. I had a number of large rollers from REMBRANDT and GRAPHIC CHEMICAL and so it was simply safely stored away in the original wood shipping crate..Current retail on a similar roller is $856 plus shipping. I am asking $425 plus shipping. For shipping distance reference I am in Michigan.

If you read the backstory, you will see that the press has been designed using materials that shed the weight, making it actually moveable, while not compromising on quality. No motor, so nothing to go wrong. In beautiful condition.

I am selling a cast iron engraving press made by M.M. Kelton, New York, in the mid to late 1850’s, known as the “spyder” model because of the five handles radiating from the hub that turns the top cylinder. It was originally used to print U.S. government bank notes and certificates, and was later owned and used by acclaimed NYC printmaker Irwin Hoffman as an etching press. It was purchased from him in 1976, and has been displayed in a heated art gallery ever since. It is in original working condition. The top cylinder is 20″ long, and the soapstone (?) bed is 22″ x 40″. The frame is cast: M M Kelton, 124 Baxter St. , NYC. Asking price is $3000. I’m selling a 30″ x 42″ Praga floor mount etching press for $4,200.00. It has never been used and is still on the original shipping base. Comes with several different wool blankets, also unused. Pick up is local only in SE Wisconsin or you may arrange grade level pick up through a commercial shipper at your expense. Also have a Valad 27.5″ x 36″ unused hot plate available for $500.00. It’s really never been used. Not once. No ink stains, no nothing and still on its original shipping base. The woman who originally bought it had grandiose plans to become a Door County bon vivant while churning out highly sought after etchings. That didn’t happen and I ended up with it. I’m no artist and it seemed like a tedious way to make pizza crusts so I’m selling it as new, never used.

I am in Racine, Wisconsin (between Chicago and Milwaukee) and am liquidating some equipment. I have two large rollers in boxes in good condition for sale ($350 each), a litho press on rolling cart ($1200), a 4-gallon vertical etching tank ($58), and an exposure unit approximately 50×60 inches that needs a little TLC but works ($200). Detail descriptions and pictures available on request. Also, handle for hand roller approximately 12″ needs new roller and a 24″ roller with damage ($95) All shipping expenses are the responsibility of the buyer.

Hi Ben – am in Sarasota and may have what you’re looking for. You can contact me via email . A woman in Ontario was looking at having it shipped but it’s rather big and then there is customs. I have it for sale on Facebook marketplace. I posted the fir ad with it being still wrapped from moving and then edited it without and with precise measurements., that’s the one that has the best info and pics.

What is the title of the FB marketplace ad? I don’t see anything in Sarasota for an etching press, or printing press. I don’t know how to get your email address since there’s nothing on the post that allows me to get to it. You can email me at ben.willmore@hey.com just be sure to include “etching press” in the subject line of the email.

I’m driving down to pick up the press that I learned about in the comments here! It’s only 60 miles from my location. Just goes to show that a post on this forum is worthwhile.

I have a Motorized Dickerson Combination Press for sale.
This press is located in Studio City, CA
The press comes with the Dickerson metal table stand, Approximately 72” long and 38” wide
I believe the press bed is 27” x 48” x ¾”
Fully assembled, the frame is 36” x 64” x 27”
I believe the drive roll is 4 ½” x 27 inches, and steel
The printing roll is 4 ½” x 24 inches, and steel
Overall this is in excellent condition
The press weighs about 415 lbs, and with table the weight is approximately 500 lbs.
I have various other printmaking tools, supplies and a collection of paper (still taking an inventory).
Best price would be to someone who can pick this up, but I would be willing to negotiate delivering this in the So Cal area.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the post. I’m looking for, not a press, but an aquatint box-any condition. Also I would like to know if you have any oil based inks, chemicals for etching, or what else. Please give a call to 510 763-8199 or respond to my email where i got your info. Thanks, Jhon

Jhon,
I am closing my mother’s studio after her passing and am still going through and determining what she had, but I am fairly sure she did not have an aquatint box. I will be over there in the next day or two and will try and call you then when in the studio. The inks and chemicals will all be more than 5 years old and I’m not sure of their shelf life. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply. Let me know what you find and are selling. An aquatint box is pretty big, about 6-8′ high. The inks usually keep a very long time as do some of the chemicals. Where are you located?
